Happy 67th birthday to Charlean Bayo Adeyemi of the 67/71 Set, having been born on April 14, 1954.
EDUCATION
He started his primary education in Ikare, Ondo State but completed it at All Saints Primary School, Osogbo. Thereafter, he attended St. Charles' Grammar School, Osogbo between 1967 and 1971. His HSC from 1972 to 1973 was at Abeokuta Grammar School, Abeokuta.
He then went on to study Chemistry at the University of Ibadan between 1974 and 1978 and graduated with a B.Sc Honours degree in that field (it must be noted that Charlean Bayo Adeyemo had a unique opportunity of being mentored by our BOT Chairman/Chairman, Board of Governors of St. Charles' Grammar School, Osogbo, Professor Benjamin Babatunde Adeleke in the then UI's Department of Chemistry).
*WORK/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Summary of Charlean Adeyemo's corporate/professional experience is as follows:
1979 - 1987: Technical Sales Executive (Industrial Chemicals) at BTL Technical Limited, Oregun, Lagos;
1987-1995: Sales Manager & rose to the position of Divisional Manager (Marine Coatings) - International Paints (WA) PLC;
1996 - 1998: DN Meyer as Divisional Manager (Calabar operations);
1998 - 2001: back to International Paints (now known as IPWA PLC) as Regional Manager (Oil Producing States) & rose to become the General Manager (Sales & Marketing);
2002 - 2009: Chemstar Industry Nigeria Limited (FINECOAT Paints) as GM sales & Marketing Advisor;
2010: Self employed as Corrosion Coatings Advisor on various offshore projects;
2011-2020: Painting Supervisor & Lead Coating Inspector on board FPSO “Sea Eagle” owned by SNEPCo (Shell Nigeria Exploration Company).
At various times, he did corrosion inspection for various facilities - pipelines, platforms, Tank Farms etc belonging to Chevron & Mobil Oil Companies. He also, severally, was on inspection duties in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), Dakar (Senegal), Douala (Cameroon), Tema (Ghana), Port-Gentíl (Gabon)... based on request by Nigerian companies with affiliates in these countries as he can fluently communicate in French language.
He still actively consults for companies on corrosion control especially in some French speaking African countries.
*SCOBA ACTIVITIES*
Charlean Adeyemo was Chairman of the OBA, Lagos State Branch in the 90s and was very active in the formation & running of the 1967/71 Set, particularly in Lagos. He is married to Mrs. Janet Oluwatoyin Adeyemo & both are blessed with 4 children (3 girls+1 boy) & 4 grandchildren.
Hobbies include listening to classical music & traveling (natural fallout of being a salesman!), watching soccer & formula 1.
