BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO CHARLEAN ADEMOLA (STANZA 789)
Big congratulations from SCOBA CEC to Charlean Peter Ademola Oyebanji, Past Assistant General Secretary and Current Chairman, Stanza 789 as he celebrates his 58th birthday today.
A native of Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Peter was born in Lagos on November 17, 1962 to Late Pa Francis Adeboye Oyebanji and Late Dame Theodora Moromoke Oyebanji (a Papal Medalist).
His primary education was at St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Lagos (1969-1970) and St. Clare's Nursery & Primary School, Osogbo (1970-1973). He was atrended St. Charles' Grammar School, Osogbo between September 1973 and June 1979. He had a remedial stint at Methodist Boys High School, Lagos between 1979 and 1980. He thereafter proceeded to the Federal School of Arts and Science, Ondo for his HSC. He got a direct entry admission into the University of Lagos to read Sociology between 1983 and 1986, bagging a B.Sc in that field. His NYSC between 1986 and 1987 was at the then Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic), Onikolobo, Abeokuta. Between 1987 and 1995, he worked with Adeboye & Sons. In between (1990-1991), he went for his M.Sc programme in Sociology, with specialisation in Criminology.
His MPhil and PhD Sociology programmes with bias in Criminology are nearing completion and in view. He is a Member, Nigerian Institute of Management.
From November 1995 to date, he has been in the employment of Yaba College of Technology and has worked variously in that institution as:
- Administrative Officer 1 (Registrar's Office - 1995-1997);
- Administrative Officer 1 (Junior Staff Matters) -
Jun-Nov 1997;
- Asst. Registrar (Staff Training & Development) - 1997-2001;
- Snr Asst. Registrar (Examination) - 2001-2003;
- Snr Asst. Registrar & Pioneer Faculty Officer (TTTP) - 2003-May 2008;
- Principal Asst. Registrar (Alumni Relations) - Jun 2008-Dec 2009;
- Deputy Registrar (Alumni) - Jan 2010-Jul 2010;
- Deputy Registrar (Academic Board Affairs & Exams) - Aug 2010-Apr 2014;
- Deputy Registrar (Exams & Students Academic Records) - Apr 2014-Mar 2017;
- Deputy Registrar (Students Affairs & Head, Students Welfare Department) - Mar 2017 to date.
He lectured on part-time basis at the Lagos Campuses of Adekunle Ajasin University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Kwara State University as well as Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. Courses taught at these institutions include: Principles of Management, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Research Methodology. He is also a Trainer of University/Polytechnic undergraduates and professionals in banking and insurance sectors in the following areas:
- Parliamentary procedures;
- Group decision-making;
- Body language;
- Conflict management;
- Time management;
- Leadership Skills and
- HIV/AIDS
Charlean Oyebanji is a member of several local and international clubs like:
- Ikeja Junior Chamber;
- Nigeria Junior Chamber;
- University of Lagos Jaycees;
- Ikoyi Leo Club and
- Leo District 404 Nigeria
amongst others.
He is a FIDE Arbiter of the World Chess Federation (the equivalent of a FIFA graded Referee in Football) and his experience in this regard took him to the World Chess Olympiad in Norway (2014) Azerbaijan (2016) and Georgia (2018).
In Yabatech he was made the Chairman of the College Sports Advisory Committee 2015 to 2018. He has attended all Nigeria Polytechnic Games NIPOGA and West Africa University Games till date, the latest held in February 2020 with Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin as host. He also represented and won medals for the College in Chess at all Senior Staff Games held from 1995 till date.
He was Assistant General Secretary of Stanza 789 between 2014 and 2018 and currently the Chairman of the Stanza.
A very committed financial member of Stanza 789, Charlean Oyebanji is known for his openness/liberal style, with a knack for an all inclusive administration.
He is a happy family man.
