BIRTHDAY GREETINGS CHARLEAN OLUTOLA {STANZA789}
Today (12/11/2020) is the birthday of Charlean Martin Akanni Obafemi Olutola and SCOBA CEC joins his family, Stanza 789, his friends and associates in celebrating this special day with him.
He was born in Osogbo to Late Mr. Theophilus Adeboye Olutola & Late Mrs. Agnes Oni Omoriyepe Olutola. He began his elementary education at St. Benedict Primary School, Osogbo, Osun State in 1966. In 1968, he moved to Construction Camp Primary School, Kanji, New Bussa, where he was until 1971. He returned to St. Benedict School in that year and completed his primary education in 1972. Thereafter, he proceeded to St. James' Modern School, Osogbo, Osun State, where he spent an academic session, between January and July 1973. He was admitted into St. Charles' Grammar School, Osogbo, Osun State in September 1973, spent 3 years and in 1976, he moved to Ekiti State where he completed his secondary education at C.A.C. Grammar School, Efon Alaaye (1976–1979). After his WASCE, he proceeded to Ondo State College of Arts & Science, Ikare Akoko for Special Sixth Form (HSC) between 1979 and 1981. He studied History at the University of Ibadan from 1982 to 1985 and got a Bachelor of Arts Degree in that field. His mandatory NYSC in 1986 was in Foron, Plateau State.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Third Secretary in January 1987. Between that time and May 1989, he was at the Foreign Service Academy, undergoing courses and other programs in Diplomacy. Thereafter, he was deployed to various Directorates at the Lagos Headquarters and served in sundry departments until he was posted in 1995 to the Nigerian Embassy in Havana, Cuba where he became a Consular Officer and a Counsellor in 1996.
In November 1998, he returned to Nigeria and was posted to the Christian Pilgrims Committee where he was until January 2005 when he was posted to serve as the Minister & Consular/ Political Attache at the Embassy of Nigeria in Athens, Greece till 2008.
After his wonderful time in the country famously known for its Olympic Games, rich Ancient History and Magnificent Temples, Charlean Olutola headed back to Nigeria as Assistant Director in various Directorates at Abuja Headquarters of the Foreign Affairs Ministry from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director, which he occupied until 2017.
In 2012, he was once again posted back to one of the Caribbean Islands, but this time to the Island known widely for having the fastest sprinters in the world and being a Land of Springs, Jamaica. During his time in Jamaica, he furthered his education and obtained two (2) Master's Degrees, one in National Security and Strategic Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in 2014 and another in Security Administration & Management in 2015 from the Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) which is now called Caribbean Maritime University (CMU). After completing his official duty at the Nigerian High Commission in Kingston, Jamaica in 2015, he returned to Abuja, Nigeria. In January 2017, he was appointed as the Director, Programs, Directorate of Technical Aid Corps.
A brawny but cool and calm persona, Charlean Martin Olutola is a very active member of Stanza 789. He was particularly close to the Catholic Mission in Osogbo while in St. Charles' and was a regular face on the altar at St. Benedict Catholic Mission, as he served regularly at almost every Mass with the then Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Julius Babatunde Adelakun,.(now in retirement in Oyo Town) and several Rev. Fathers. His nickname then was Omo Father Yakubu. In his quest to serve God and devote his time and insatiable passion for things of His Kingdom, Charlean Olutola serves as an Usher and Deacon at the Living Faith Church, Goshen, Abuja, Nigeria.
Outside the corporate world, Mr. Olutola takes interest in Real Estate Projects & Developments and at his leisure time, he plays lawn tennis, reads, does cycling, enjoys travelling and watches action movies that remind him of his childhood starring actors like Steven Seagal, Bruce Lee etc.
His passion for reading and unending learning has driven him to take more Courses and procure more Certificates such as the Certificate in Spanish Language from Jose Marti School/Language, Havana, Cuba in 1997.
*Between 2013 and 2015, he was at the Venezuelan Institute of Culture, to further his Spanish language.
*Between January and December 2019, he was at the Alliance Franchise in Luanda, where he studied Portuguese language, a tool of trade needed in his calling.
Charlean Olutola is a very happy family man. He is married to Mrs. Roseline Idowu Olutola and they are blessed with 3 lovely children, a boy and two girls.
